Curriculum
Ivy Monteiro (from São Paulo, Brazil) has a BA in Fine Arts, specialized in Performance in Zurich (ZHDK) and a BA in Social Communication (Anhembi Morumbi). Ivy is an educator and developer of practices and performative roles in Dance, Music and Theatre Performance, for small and big stages. They are a natural shapeshifter, re-imagining and re-conceptualizing femininity, gender, social and race through (dis)identifcation in a post-colonial perspective. Ancestrality and Spirituality are reshaped and envisioned in queer futuristic pieces where the artist reclaims and questions their space in our apocalyptical future.
Ivy also produces and headlines inclusive events and parties for trans/non binaries & queers of color such as Hella Mellanated, FEUCHT and Drag Story Time. Under the name„Mother Tropikahl Ivy B. Poderosa“, They are the leader of the Trailblazer House of B. Poderosa, first kiki house in Switzerland. Since 2022 they are also member of the Iconic House of St. Laurent. Since 2017, Ivy have been active in the International Vogue and Ballroom scene, where they produce functions, teaches workshops and develop social practices around this culture (Kweer Ball, Kweer Function, Poderosa Annual Summer Ball).
Ivy has also newly founded in 2021 with other trans local representatives the "Trans Safety Emergency Fund" - an association that caters for emergencial financial aid to Trans people around the world.
Their work has been presented in Galleries like Perla Mode (Zürich) and VBKO (Vien), in Theatres like Counterpulse (San Francisco) and Tanzhaus (Zürich), in Museums like The Museum of Image and Sound (São Paulo) and in Festivals like the Queer Biennial II (Los Angeles), Zürich Moves! (Zürich), in the Opening of the Swiss Pavillon for the Venice Biennale 2019 and most recently in Theatre Spektakel Zuerich (2021).
